A frontier police officer has refused to accept a bribe of 800 euro to allow a person with a banning order to leave the country, only days after a separate case in which one of his colleagues was caught accepting a bribe in a similar situation, Dnevnik daily has reported.

The officer, from the Ilinden border crossing point H.H, has filed a complaint in the Gotse Delchev police precinct, saying that T.V from Yagoda village attempted to bribe him, requesting in return to be granted permission to leave.

The person who tried to sneak out of the country has been detained for 24 hours.

Less than a week ago, another police man at the Kulata border crossing point was seen accepting a bribe from a man who also had a banning order but attempted to enter Greece. The officer will now face criminal charges.
