A beach chair and an umbrella cost 30 leva per day in Nessebar. The alarmingly high prices in the midst of an economic crisis when the entire tourist sector along the Black Sea is reeling has caused outrage, Investor.bg has reported.
Representatives of the tourist branch along with the local administration alerted the Ministry of Regional Development on account of the abnormally high prices.
"At a time of a global crunch, when the entire business sector is struggling to adjust to the arduous financial reality the concessionaires' actions are outrageous," hoteliers said. The high prices have also caused consternation among clients at the beginning of the summer season. This has prompted hoteliers to seek assistance from the Commission for Protection of Competition.
The firm responsible for the latest scandal is Siroko EOOD. The company has a concession contract with the regional ministry signed in 1999, valid for 20 years.
