On February 7 municipalities in the Yambol region received information on the inclusion of territories in the European environment network Natura 2000.
Deputy regional governor Ivan Georgiev said that all mayors received maps and analysis of all terrains to be included in the network.
Mayors in turn have to submit a list of all urban areas that fall in the potentially protected terrains. Populated areas and resorts will be excluded from Natura 2000.
At the same time Kavarna mayor Tsonko Tsonev said that the municipality so far lacks information on Natura 2000.
Tsonev told Focus news agency that the municipality carried out meetings with ecological organisations but official data on inclusion in Natura 2000 was received as late as October 2006.
Razlog mayor Liuben Tatarski said that the Environment and Water Affairs Ministry itself lacked clarity on the inclusion in the network until November 2006.
Tatarski denied that municipalities received information on Natura 2000 when ecologists started analysing territories for inclusion in the network.
