Bulgaria’s Public Financial Inspection Agency (PFIA) found irregularities in 776 public procurement tenders called last year, or 51 per cent of the total of 1529, Deputy Finance Minister Atanas Kunchev told a May 14 news conference.
The agency found 1548 violations in those 776 procedures, as well as 202 instances when public authorities were obliged to, but failed to call public tenders. read more

| 16:53 Wed 14 May 2008 - Elena Koinova The IT system of Bulgaria’s National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) is due for launch on July 1, Roumiana Todorova, director of the NHIF, said on May 14, as quoted by Dnevnik daily.
The system will speed data processing and the inter-linkage between individual modules will immediately detect overlap of medical activities and flawed spending of money. Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov opened the new kindergarten number 127, which will be called Zlatnoto pate (Golden Duckling).
