Bulgaria’s best snowboard competitor Alexandra Zhekova won the silver medal of the Junior Snowboard World Championship in Austria’s Bad Gastein.
Zhekova won the medal in the bordercross discipline, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
Helene Olafsen from Norway won the gold. She holds a previous bronze medal in the same discipline from the women’s world championship.
Brooke Shaw from the US and Emilie Aubry from Switzerland crossed the finish with third and fourth best times respectively.
The silver medal is Zhekova’s most significant achievement so far.
Bulgarian National Radio reported that Zhekova’s medal was achieved despite the strong competition of skilled snowboarders from Austria, Germany, Canada, Switzerland and the US.
