The film Bulgarian Corridor #8 was chosen for the official selection of the Berlin International Film Festival Berlinale 2008.

It is the first Bulgarian film in six years to reach the official selection.

Martichka Bozhilova, producer of Corridor #8, said “this is a great success for our cinema, as no Bulgarian film had taken part in a prestigious festival for a long time.”

The film was invited to have its world premiere in the Forum section of Berlinale and will have five more screenings in the most prestigious cinemas in Berlin between February 7 and 12 2008.

The International Forum of New Cinema is the most daring section of the Berlinale programme. It features avant-garde, experimental, essays, lengthy observations, political reportage and everything new or unconventional.

Corridor #8 tells the story of the everyday life of people living along a non-existing road through the Balkans. The road passes through Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania and coincides with a major infrastructure project funded by the EU, which has been in its first stage for the past 10 years.

The film shows the moods, prejudices and hopes of the people of the three Balkan countries.
