WORLD CUP 2006 LIVE IN BULGARIA'S MOVIE HALLS
10:31 Tue 23 May 2006

Football fans in Bulgaria will be able to watch the World Cup in the two Arena cinema complexes in Sofia.

Right with the start of the World Cup in Germany four of the movie halls in the two cinemas will be dedicated only for these special screening of the games, 24 Chassa reported.

World Cup 2006 is the first one to be filmed in the high-quality HD format, allowing live programmes to be broadcast on larger screens, including cinema halls. The HD resolution allows the fans to discern even details as the faces in the audience and the stadium grass, 24 Chassa said.

Experts said that this was the beginning of an entire new industry they call 'live events'. The idea is to cover an event live with high quality, creating the illusion the viewer is present at the stadium. The new technology was first introduced for a Robbie Williams concert last year.
