Bulgaria and the World Bank were co-operating well, the bank’s vice president for Europe and Central Asia Shigeo Katsu said during a meeting with Finance Minister Plamen Oresharski and Economy and Energy Minister Roumen Ovcharov.
The two Bulgarian ministers took part in a World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meeting in Singapore.
Bulgaria was doing well on a number of projects, Katsu said. The bank was going to continue working together with state officials on social integration, labour market stability, healthcare and education, said he.
Oresharski presented steps undertaken to reform the labour market and modernise the public sector in Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian delegation also met representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group. Representatives discussed Bulgaria’s European integration in terms of economic competitiveness.
IFC representatives said that the privatisation of Sofia’s central heating provider was a strategic deal. Ovcharov invited representatives of the corporation to Sofia where they could give recommendations on the issue.
