A new work group would take decisions on construction in Bulgaria's coastal region to protect the environment and limit the amount of illegal construction works.
Representatives of the Environment and Water Affairs, Regional Development, Agriculture, Economy, Culture and Defence ministries would be part of the work group, Environment and Water Affairs Minister Djevdet Chakurov said.
In the beginning of August Chakurov imposed a ban on the construction in Irakli, a region where some of Bulgaria's last wild beaches are situated.
The creation of the work group resulted from the ban imposition, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported. The work group was going to have wider authority and was going to have a say over investment plans in the entire coastal region.
Chakurov said that the ban was not going to be all-inclusive, yet the coastal nature needed to be preserved.
Bulgaria had environmental engagements related to its EU entry, Chakurov said. Irakli was soon going to be part of the Natura 2000, European network for protected regions.
