Williams sisters reach Wimbledon semis with ease
20:34 Tue 01 Jul 2008 - Petar Kostadinov

Venus and Serena Williams had little problems advancing to the semis at Wimbledon on July 1 2008.

Defending champion Venus Williams had no problems dealing with Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn and maintained her perfect record. The two have met six times so far and Tanasugarn has never won a set against Williams.

It was no different this time around. Williams won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 against Tanasugarn who a day earlier made the news after trowing out tournament's favourite Jelena Jankovic.

Venus will play against Russia's Elena Dementieva, who scored a 6-1, 7-6, 6-3 win against fellow Russian Nadia Petrova, despite Petrova's good show.

It was a big day for Dementieva because it is her tenth Wimbledon and only the second time she has reached the last eight.

Venus sister Serena had probably the easiest task at the quarterfinals, where she faced Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska. From the first minutes of the match it became clear that Radwanska did not stand a chance against her opponent. Serena won in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.

Serena will next play against China's Jie Zheng, who won against Nicole Vaidisova from the Czech Republic in a three set match by 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.
