The European week of Mobility is being celebrated in many European cities between 16 - 22 September. The accent is on returning the street to people, as defined by the European Committee (EC).
Mobility Week 2007 is about climate change. Over 1260 cities would celebrate with initiatives like open-air picnic and bicycle events, radar.bg reports.
The bicycle would be presented as an alternative means of transport.
In Sofia, NGO's would present proposals to the Municipal Council for changes in the capital's regulations for the organisation of traffic.
The proposals intended to make bicycles equal participants in road traffic, as they are in other European capitals.
The proposal would also include the construction of six bicycle lanes, which would connect the centre of the city with living quarters.
On September 22 at 10:30 a bicycle parade would start from the square in front of St. Aleksandur Nevski Cathedral, to the entrance of Yuzhniya Park (South Park), where children could take part in bicycle competitions.
