A chain car crash near South-Western town of Blagoevgrad on September 24 2007 resulted in five dead and 10 injured, the lives of three of the injured are in danger.
Four of the victims, among which a seven-year-old child, died on the spot, Focus news agency reported. The fifth victim died in a hospital in Blagoevgrad.
Among the victims in grave conditions was one year and seven months old child. It was transported to Sofia’s Pirogov emergency centre on the morning of September 25. The child suffered skull wounds and brain edema, was unconscious and on a respirator to breath.
A two-year-old child was among the injured. It has been hospitalised in the town of Razlog with skull fractures, but was not unconscious.
A 36-year-old woman was in coma.
Police managed to identify the five victims
Six cars and two trucks hit in the chain crash. According to witnesses, one of the trucks did not stop and caused the accident. A brake problem was the most likely reason for the crash. A car was crushed between two trucks in the accident. One of the trucks was full of sand and stones and the rescue teams had to unload the cargo to remove the truck from the car.
