On May 28, the Betterball Stableford competition was won by the pairing of David Butts and Borislav Malinov.
Kalina Markova and Anton Petkov took second place. Both teams scored 45 points.
The longest drive women’s competition was won by Iliana Dimitrova and the longest drive for men by James Taylor. Scott McNeill was closest to the pin on 18 with a fine shot.
Slow play is a problem that is prevalent on golf courses, and there were some players who took close to three hours for the first nine holes on Sunday.
The average round of golf should take a maximum of four and a half hours.
In order to assist you to speed up play, St. Sofia Golf Club and Spa has offered these tips: be ready to hit immediately when it’s your turn.; line up your putt before it’s your turn; determine the yardage before you arrive at your ball; select your club before you arrive at your ball; after finishing a hole, don’t take practice putts; fill in the score while walking to the next tee, not on the green; give instruction to your friends on the driving range, not on the golf course; leave your cart or bag on the side of the green, towards the next tee.
If you have taken more than eight shots or playing in a competition and you cannot score pick up your ball; reduce or eliminate practice swings. Never take more than two practice swings.
Putt out short putts rather than marking the ball and waiting; reduce or eliminate the use of mobile phones; watch other players tee shots so that you can help them find the ball and walk briskly between shots.
