
On November 15 the new Bulgaria Fund, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the German Marshall Fund of the United States launched at the Serdika Ballroom of Sofia's Sheraton Hotel, a media statement by the US Embassy in Bulgaria said.
Ambassador John Beyrle and Justice Minister Miglena Tacheva attended the official ceremony.
At the event Bulgaria Fund's main goals and strategic focus were presented.
The Bulgaria Fund is a three-year programme with a $3 million (2.05 million euro) budget. According to the media statement, the fund was meant to support key areas of reform and development in Bulgaria.
The Fund’s priority areas would be good governance, support for marginalized populations, education and competitiveness.
