US senate approved a document which could allow Bulgarian citizens to enter the US without visa permits.
The text was part of a draft law which includes various topics, such as communication between various security services and transference of defence budget, Dnevnik daily reported.
The draft law allows US allies in the fight against terrorism to make use of the programme for non-visa regime. Only 27 countries are included in the programme so far.
Bulgaria, Greece, Estonia, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and South Korea are the countries to be included in the programme.
Still, US president George W. Bush might veto the draft law, Dnevnik said.
The text includes the creation of a union for the US Transport Security Administration, while Bush is against such organisations.
