US COMPANIES INTERESTED IN BULGARIA'S ECOLOGICAL PROJECTS

Wed, Mar 07 2007 09:03 CET 186 Views

US companies have interest in carrying out ecological and water resource management projects in Bulgaria.

Environment and Water Affairs Minister Djevdet Chakurov and US ambassador to Bulgaria John Beyrle reached an agreement on such projects, Darik Radio reported.

The Environment and Water Affairs Ministry will act as a mediator between Bulgarian municipalities, the US trade chamber and Eximbank, which will discuss the financing of such projects.

In the past year Eximbank said it was interested in the provision of loans for projects dealing with waste management and nature preservation.

Analysts said that even if Bulgaria managed to utilise 100 per cent of the EU funds provided for environment protection, the money will be enough to meet 70 per cent of the priority activities in the sector.
