Bulgaria and the US continue being partners in the fight against terrorism, the US Department of State annual report on terrorism said.
Currently 154 Bulgarian troops are responsible for missions in Iraq and nearly 150 Bulgarian soldiers are responsible for peacekeeping in Afghanistan, the report said.
At the same time Iraqi officers undergo training in Veliko Turnovo’s military school as part of the NATO mission to Iraq.
The Bulgarian Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) co-operates with US institutions in attempts to prevent terrorism funding and to identify the financial assets of terrorist organisations.
FIA presented a list of individuals and organisations connected to terrorist activities.
Parliament gave FIA more authority, after it approved law modifications enabling the agency obtain bank information without a court order, the report said.
