Professor Tom Cannon of the University of Buckingham proved that Bulgarian forward Dimitar Berbatov was the best international transfer footballer.

Recently, Berbatov entered the top 10 of The Times for most interesting transfers of the season. The Bulgarian forward is currently competing for Tottenham.

Cannon’s research furthers Berbatov’s image.

The professor and his team got the task to determine the most successful foreign footballer competing for UK teams.

“The transfer value of a player only tells half the story. For the complete ¬picture we had to measure the overall ¬contribution, ability to make that at the right time and their rapport with fans,” Cannon said.

Players like Berbatov were of great value for their team because of their skills and ability to conquer the hearts of fans, researchers concluded.
