UNEMPLOYMENT IN BULGARIA DECREASES IN SECOND QUARTER OF 2007

Bulgaria's unemployed numbered 237.8 thousand in the second quarter of 2007, or 6.8 per cent of labour force.

National Statistical Institute (NSI) research showed that the number of unemployed men was 125.3 thousand, or 52.7 per cent of all unemployed, Bulgarian National Radio reported.

Unemployed people aged between 15 and 64 numbered 236.8 thousand. The unemployment rate for this age group was 6.9 per cent. Unemployed people aged between 15 and 24 totalled 36.0 thousand, with an unemployment rate of 12.6 per cent.

The total number of able workers totalled 3.491 million, which is 52.6 per cent of population aged over 15. The labour force between the ages of 15 and 64 was 3.449 million, of whom 1.818 million were men.

People out of labour force aged over 15 were 3.148 million or 47.4 per cent from the population in this age group in the second quarter of 2007.
