Greek media continue reporting that the signing of Bourgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline agreement will probably be postponed again.
The signing is scheduled for March 6 2007 and is to take place in the Greek capital of Athens.
Greek newspaper Naftemboriki said that disagreement between Greece and Russia, two of the countries involved in the project, endangered the signing.
Russia was unsatisfied with the Greek position on US intentions to locate anti-missile system in the Czech Republic and Poland, Bulgarian news agency BTA said.
Russia assumed the Greek position as favouring the US in the Russian-US clash of interests.
Bourgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline will transport Russian oil through Bulgaria’s port of Bourgas to the Greek port of Alexandroupolis. Negotiations between the three countries began in 1993. Talks had come to a dead-end several times ever since.
Bulgaria, Greece and Russia are closer than ever to sign the final agreement for the pipeline construction after they endorsed a tripartite agreement on February 7 2007.
