UK TEENAGERS PLAN TRIP TO BULGARIAN ORPHANS
09:14 Wed 10 Oct 2007

A group of 19 teenagers from Norwich are planing a charity trip to help children at an orphanage in Burzitsa in southern Bulgaria.

The teenagers would be paying their own travel costs as well as fund-raising for all the equipment and resources they would bring, Norwich evening news daily said.

The teenagers would be hiring themselves out as cleaners and gardeners, among others, to buy gifts for the orphans.

The group would be taking sports and art equipment to the orphanage, the newspaper said.
They would spend a week with the children, playing games, running arts and crafts sessions, making music with them and living alongside the orphans.

The teenagers were 16 to 18 year old and members of the Cyfa youth group at Holy Trinity Church, the Norwich Central Baptist Church and the Surrey Chapel in Norwich.

The organisation Saltmine has been supporting projects in Bulgaria for years, the Burzitsa orphanage was adopted by the charity 11 years ago and is now home to around 75 children.
