Terrorist organisation al-Qaeda was becoming more organised and its new priority target was the United Kingdom, the BBC said, as quoted by mediapool.bg.
The BBC report was based on security services sources, mediapool.bg said.
The danger to the UK had never been greater than now, intelligence services said. Al-Qaeda’s structure in The UK was cell-based, similar to the Irish Republican Army’s structure, the BBC said.
Each cell had its own leader who acquired weapons and recruited volunteers. Each cell was in a different region and several cells had a major leader, the BBC said, as quoted by mediapool.bg.
Most of the al-Qaeda cells were outside London.
According to BBC Security Correspondent Gordon Corera, al-Qaeda considered the UK more vulnerable than its other targets.
