Andrew Sparkes was appointed UK ambassador to Kosovo, the UK foreign office said in a statement on March 19. The diplomat will take over from David Blunt, who took office on February 20 this year, only three days after Kosovo declared independence.
The Foreign Office would not elaborate on the reasons behind the changeover.
Sparkes has served as a UK diplomat since 1983. His last appointment was in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he served between 2004 and 2008.
Sparkes will take up his appointment in Kosovo during April 2008.
