Two girls who were injured in a fire in Sofia’s centre on May 2 2008 were doing significantly better, Pigorov emergency centre representatives said, as quoted by Focus news agency.

The father of the girls, who was also injured, is still hooked up to a respirator in the intensive care unit of Pirogov.

The fire began at about 6pm on May 2 in an apartment building on the corner of Tsar Samouil and Pirotska streets. The victims of the fire were a family of four. The girls were the least injured. Both parents were in critical condition. Later, the mother died.

Fire fighters could not reach the apartment building right away because of cars that were parked on the street.
