TWO HOUR LONG DRUM HEARBEAT SHAKES BULGARIA'S CAPITAL

Japanese drummers Yamato staged a two hour Heartbeat: Shin-On show that combined unique sounds of traditional Japanese drums and impressive choreography.

The show took place in Sofia’s National Palace of Culture.

Yamato visited Bulgaria for the first time. The group used more than 40 different drumming instruments including a huge 400 year-old drum and small palm-sized drums, avtora.com reported.

The performance was divided into two parts presenting various aspects of traditional Japanese culture. Spectators could enjoy a mixture of drum beats, pantomime and eastern martial art elements.

Main performers' instruments were the drums but they also used string and wind instruments among which traditional Japanese guitar shamisen.

Half an hour before the end of the show and during the two encores 4000 people stood up to applaud the performers.
