15:45 Fri 27 Oct 2006

Two customs officers were detained on charges of corruption.

Both of them worked at Sofia Airport. One of the men allowed a Bulgarian citizen to use fake identity documents in return for 1000 euro, an Interior Ministry press release said.

According to police sources the man followed the orders of the second customs officer detained. The man was detained on October 23.

The woman that made the payment had a criminal record. She was investigated for theft in various European countries. The woman had four passports and had left the country four times previously, the press release said.

Police said that the two customs officers had taken part in such activities before. Another woman was allowed to leave the country on September 1 in a similar manner.

Regarding dishonest border customs officers, 2 of the border customs officers also work for : Bulgarian-real-estates.com There names are: Kiril & Martin, - Martin has 3 strips so I believe he is a sergeant. We have since found out that both of the officers should not have a second job and working for an estate agency. One of the officers Martin states that he is a Master Builder ? the other one Kiril threatened me, when he asked if we had HOUSE INSURANCE, he asked as to threaten to burn our properties down in our abscence. This sort of behaviour should be sorted out and action should be taken. At the time it was noted that nobody in the Bulgarian-real-estate agency based in Town of Vidin, wished to give us back our power of attorney papers? we wonder why? name and adress supplied on request. We are proposing to sue the agency and its staff in court in the Vidin domain.
