Croatian court sentenced two Bulgarians on Friday July 14 for smuggling heroin worth four million euro.
Their prison sentenced could reach up to 20 years, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
A court in the eastern Croatian town of Osijek sentenced Emin Hayaati and Yusein Mustafov for trying to smuggle into Croatia nearly 26.6 kilograms of heroin.
The two Bulgarians were detained in April while crossing the Serbian border. Heroin packages were hidden in the trunk of their car.
According to sources the heroin was to be sold in Zagreb.
International reports reveal Bulgaria as one of the transit countries for the passage of drugs from Asia to Europe. The location of the Balkans enabled organised criminal organisations to develop their operations and gain significant income, the agency reported.
