TWO BULGARIAN COMPANIES ALLOWED TO EXPORT ELECTRICITY
15:21 Tue 27 Nov 2007 - Rene Beekman

National Electricity Company (NEC) announced only two companies would be allowed to export electricity in December 2007, investor.bg said

NEC and Statkraft South East Europe had won the monthly tender to transport electricity from Bulgaria to Romania, Serbia and Greece, Intellinews said.

The tendered capacity had not been disclosed.

Export capacity to the three neighbouring countries would depend on Bulgarian consumption and weather conditions over the period, as production capacities had been significantly reduced with the closure of two units at the Kozloduy nuclear power plant in late 2006.

NEC would reportedly export 50% less electricity this year as compared to last year when export sales reached 7.7bn KWh, Intellinews said.
