Turn up for local elections on Sunday October 28 was expected to be around 45 per cent, said the chairperson of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov in Varna, two days before the elections.
His party would become the strongest political force after the elections, which would be a serious premise for early elections, BTA quoted Tsvetanov as saying.
We expect to win the position of mayor in at least 10 - 12 out of 28 cities, he said.
GERB's biggest concern in the elections was vote-buying, he said.
The commission for declassification of the secret services archives had put all parties in an impossible position by publishing their report this late, Tsvetanov said. Executive leadership of GERB would review each case independently and make personnel decisions.
According to Tsvetanov, a difference should be made between employees and agent-informers of the secret services. Tsvetanov said that if it would become clear that one of the candidate mayors had been an agent-informer, he should be forced to step down from his position.
