State Railways employees and Pokdrepa and KNSB labour unions will hold on April 12 a national protest in Sofia.

The protest is scheduled to take place in front of the Council of Ministers building at 1pm, Focus news agency reported.

Other transportation representatives are expected to join the demonstration. Among them are employees of Sofia’s public transportation, Bulgaria Air and Sofia Airport.

Protesters demand the removal of regulations for the calculation of wages in companies having more than 50 per cent state ownership. Such regulations led to smaller income and to taxation of some bonuses and social aid.

Sofia citizens, as well as representatives of Varna, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Karlovo and Yambol municipalities are also expected to support the protest.
