A CROATIAN consortium is interested in a project for the modernisation of the Sofia tram fleet, the Sofia Mayor's Office said on Tuesday following a meeting of Mayor Stefan Sofianski with the consortium in Zagreb.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Deve-lopment has provided a loan of 35 million euro, of which 13 million is for the refurbishment of 40 trams. Three months from now Sofia has to choose a contractor to implement the project. A requirement for the contractor is to have the Sofia tram factory, Tramcar, as a partner in the project.
In Zagreb, Sofianski also discussed joint efforts to find investors in landfill reclamation in the two capital cities. Sofia is looking for an investor for its Souhodol landfill.
