One of Bulgaria's largest trade unions, Podkrepa, has called on the Government to take urgent measures to counteract recent drastic hikes in the prices of goods and services.
Trade unions suggested that the Government should unblock state reserve funds to deal with the problem, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
Some main food products like bread, diary products, eggs and meat have significantly risen in price in recent days.
Discontent from speculative prices will led to social tension, Podkrepa said.
Podkrepa said that Bulgarians’ incomes were among the lowest in Europe and people could not cope with the exceptionally high ''European" prices of food products and services.
