Tottenham’s coach Juande Ramos was planning to sell out his unwanted strikers in an attempt to keep the Bulgarian forward of the team Dimitar Berbatov.
Ramos was ready to sell Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent, The Times said.
According to the newspaper “much of Ramos’s planning is based around an attempt to mollify Berbatov, whose future remains uncertain despite his recent pledge to stay until the end of the season.”
Berbatov did not hide his unhappiness to play alongside Defoe and Bent.
Tottenham’s coach would be ‘unwise’ to make his long-term plans considering Berbatov’s needs as the player desired playing for a bigger club.
Manchester United were ready to wait until the summer of 2008 to make an offer for Berbatov and Chelsea could also get involved in the bidding, The Times said.
Berbatov was highly rated by Arsenal Manager Arsène Wenger too. “I have known about him for a long time. I look always more at the individual quality of a player first, and Berbatov had technical top quality,” he said.
