NOVE Holding JSC and Bulgarian-language mass circulation daily Trud have announced their Top 10 best sports people in Bulgaria for 2005.

President Georgi Purvanov is to hand over the awards at a ceremony at SofiaLand on December 21.

In a poll among journalists, a total of 90 sports people were nominated.

The top 10 are:

1. Aleksey Shaydulin (boxing)
2. Armen Azaryan (wrestling)
3. Veselin Topalov (chess)
4. Ivet Lalova (track-and-field athletics)
5. Kaloyan Mihlyanov (sumo)
6. Nikolai Gergov (wrestling)
7. Petar Stoychev (swimming)
8. Rumyana Neykova/Miglena Markova (rowing)
9. Serafim Barzakov (wrestling)
10. Sesil Karatancheva (tennis)
