
When does the tourist season start and end for Kavarna? Are there any tourists in the city yet, and if so can you tell where are they from?
The tourist season in Kavarna starts at the beginning of May and ends in the middle of October. The first tourists in the city have already arrived and are Bulgarians.
What kind of tourists does Kavarna municipality rely on, foreigners or Bulgarians?
The ratio of the tourists in Kavarna municipality is 60 per cent Bulgarian tourists and 40 per cent foreign tourists. Last year Kavarna was visited by more than 35 000 tourists and this year we expect the number of tourists to grow by more than 30 per cent.
What can you offer to tourists?
First of all, we can offer our visitors a rich cultural and historical heritage and rare flora and fauna. The rocky coast in Kavarana is unique. The sport facilities in the municipality, the eco routes in the Kaliakra and Yailata natural reserves, the well developed transport network and the car rental services are also among the good quality services that Kavarna provides. Next, we have rich, cultural day programmes with the theatre, the international Bulgarian youth folklore festival, “Bulgaria in the Heart“, rock concerts, Week of the Sea, and Fish and Mussel Festivals. The main attraction for our guests is the historical heritage of the city of Kavarna and the Kaliakra archaeological reserve. We have registered big interest in the past few years towards the other archaeological resreve, Yailata. Our main nighttime attraction are the lights at Kaliakra cape and the grain silos, which we had turned into a medieval castle. When it comes to bars and restaurants, people can choose between picnic areas Bivaka and Shater. The restaurants Kaliakra and Dalboka, offer sea food and mussels from the nearby mussel farm. The trip by sea from Kavrna to Kaliakra on the Ali Baba ship is also worth seeing.
It is a well known fact that Kavarna has become the centre of summer concert tourism in Bulgaria and in the Balkans. What can fans expect from Kavarna this summer?
Indeed Kavarna has become the centre of concert tourism in general in the Balkans. The concerts this year include a June 6 performance by Apocalyptica. Ronnie James Dio and Alice Cooper will also be performing, and the Russian band B-2 will perform on June 30. Billy Idol will play on July 11 and Sebastian Bach and W.A.S.P. on July 15.
