Dear Readers,

It’s time for travel, but how much time do you have? We think it unwise to wait for that two-week summer holiday to take off and explore Bulgaria, so we would like to invite you to take a journey – however short – whenever the opportunity presents itself. That’s why we have asked a group of local wanderers to share with you their ideas of where to go and what to do on your day off, for the weekend, for that fortunate end-of-the-week holiday that flows into the weekend or for a whole blessed week of free time.

We’re not here to substitute your guidebook, but to supplement it. We’ve left it up to the books to tell you about the monuments and culture and history, and are waving you a welcome with some down-to-earth, first-hand stories about a bunch of places – some of them well known, others off the beaten track.
