Three options were possible for the re-structuring of the Bulgarian energy system, Economy and Energy Minister Roumen Ovcharov said.
Ovcharov attended an international conference on Bulgaria's energy security, Darik Radio reported.
The best option involved the creation of one mega-company, Ovcharov said. The consolidation of the entire sector in one structure and the attraction of foreign investment could produce the best results, said Ovcharov.
In this manner Bulgaria would stop the selling and division of energy companies, without having clear idea about the benefits such privatisation could bring, said he.
Another option was the re-structuring and attraction of private capital for state-owned companies.
Some of Bulgaria's energy priorities included the development of nuclear energy, utilisation of own resources and the use of renewable energy sources, said Ovcharov.
The state would provide 230 million leva for energy efficiency measures. These measures are expected to result in the saving of four billion kilowatt hours of energy, said Ovcharov.
