Calculating our CO2 footprint is a very powerful tool in terms of building environmental awareness. A great number of organisations offer to calculate the extent to which each and every one of us, as individuals or businesses, pollute the atmosphere with greenhouse gases. There’s nothing quite like measuring a car journey, weekend break or gas bill in terms of carbon dioxide to teach us about the dos and don’ts of our low-carbon emission world.
A number of organisations like The Carbon Fund have been offering user-friendly online CO2 calculators for a while, but the first such calculator with data for Bulgaria has only just been released by Gorichka.
The calculator divides human activities into Travelling by Car, Travelling by Plane and Home and Office. Through a few easy steps it calculates your CO2 emissions and, Gorichka being Gorichka (meaning “little forest” in Bulgarian), converts them into trees that need to be planted to offset the emissions. Gorichka plants the trees during its tree-planting campaigns in the spring and autumn.
