Wrestler Kiril Terziev won the bronze Olympic metal in 74kg freestyle wrestling category on August 20.
Terziev defeated Cuban Ivan Fundora 2-0 in a dramatic fight, Focus news agency said. In the first round, Fundora won the first point, but Terziev managed to attack successfully to take the result to 3-3. Fundora’s next attack won him another two points, while the Bulgarian scored only one for 5-4. In the last second, Terziev’s counter-attack succeeded and the first part ended 6-5 to the Bulgarian.
The first point in the second round also went to the Cuban, but Terziev turned the result around to win 3-2. He ended the round with a touchdown to win the medal.
Terziev’s coach, Simeon Shterev, was extatic after the win:“Super! It was super! There was a little bit of hesitation in the beginning, but he followed the instructions and won.”
