19:12 Wed 02 Apr 2008

The coming weekend sees more than just the newest Friday issue of Bulgaria’s national English-language newspaper, The Sofia Echo: on April 5 and 6, sofiaecho.com launches The Sofia Echo Weekend Blogs.

Every weekend, two writers will post blogs on topical issues from Bulgaria and around the world. This Saturday and Sunday, read what Vanya Rainova and Clive Leviev-Sawyer have to say. Weekends to come will feature a rotating selection of our bloggers.

The April 4 issue of The Sofia Echo outlines the state of play of the controversy surrounding Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry, explores the issues at the Nato summit in Bucharest and examines the controversial issue of biometric data.

The business section takes a look at trends in interest rates in Bulgaria, as well as one of the major business stories emanating from Turkish prime minister Erdogan’s visit, and the changing landscape of Bulgaria’s television market.

In the features section, Eileen Sutherland continues the tale of her straw bale house, Gabriel Hershman visits Belmeken, and film reviewer Pavel Ivanov gives his take on The Game Plan.

All this in addition to other special articles and our other usual weekly reviews and listings.
