The post-modern age came and people started looking for multi-functional solution rather than just technical ones.
This trend extended to motor vehicles, the result being the appearance of crossovers which combine the strong sides of several different types of vehicles. A typical representative of this type of vehicle is the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) which in Bulgaria enjoys great interest. Between 1997 and 2006, the market share of SUVs grew from 5.95 per cent to 18.3 per cent.
This makes it no surprise that at every exhibition stand at the 2007 Sofia Motor Show, powerful and impressive vehicles are on display, ready for purchase. Last year, the most expensive vehicle at the Motor Show in Varna was not a sports coupe bearing a sophisticated name, but the luxurious off-road Range Rover. This year in Sofia, the picture is pretty much the same. Most of the vehicles on exhibition come from the SUV segment with many models and manufacturers making their premieres. This is the case with BRABUS and Dodge, which will be showing their off-road vehicles, the BRABUS ML and SL, Dodge’s Caliber and Nitro. DaimlerChrysler will show something more than the Dodge models. People will see the new Jeep Compass and Mercedes-Benz ML (with a new engine). The Hyundai Grandeur features a new engine as well.
If you get a ticket for a test drive, be sure to stop at Subaru’s stand. Some of the most powerful and masculine vehicles will be waiting there - the Impreza and the incredible off-road B9 Tribeca and Forester. Mitsubishi’s move is to present first its own model of the trio off-road twin vehicles: the Outlander, Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser. The Japanese company will shine at the Expo with its new Pajero. Another manufacturer from the land of the rising sun, Honda, will show off the advantages of the new generation CR-V, while Korea’s Ssang Yong will present the facelifted version of Kyron. It is just so with BMW with their X5, and Volkswagen with the Touareg. Here are some of the most interesting details about the SUV models which will make their debut at the 2007 Sofia Motor Show.
