Central Electoral Commission (CEC) announced on May 23 the final results of Bulgaria’s first members of European Parliament (MEP) elections.
Ten men and eight women will represent the country in the EP.
Based on the electoral results, Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB) will have five MEP seats, Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will have five, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) gets four seats, ultra-nationalist movement Ataka has three and National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) wins one seat.
CEC said that 1 937 696 Bulgarians decided to cast a ballot in the elections.
People were able to exercise a preferential vote for specific candidates but since the percentage of such votes was insignificant, the preferential vote was not taken into consideration.
