Magnus Carlsen, 16-year old chess genius, defeated world number one from Bulgarian Vesselin Topalov in the Ciudad de Linares-Morelia chess tournament in Mexico.
The match lasted more than six hours, Focus news agency reported.
Carlsen became leader in the tournament after the victory, while Topalov lost almost all chances to win it.
The world’s number two Viswanathan Anand also lost his match against Armenian Levon Aronian, but ranked second in the tournament’s provisional rating.
Topalov was seventh in the rating after the fifth tour, Focus said.
