The anti-discrimination commission would have to decide whether the teachers' strike has exposed parents and school children to direct discrimination, zagrada.bg reported.
The complaint was filed by a group of parents from Sofia. According to the parents, the teachers' strike violated their children's rights to eduction, Zora Gencheva, representative of the anti-discrimination commission said.
According to the six parents who filed the complaints, the interruption of the school year by the strike lead to an "unfavourable treatment of school children in public education, kindergartens and school."
The parents claimed that children in public schools have been left in a situation where they did not enjoy the same rights as children in private schools where teachers did not strike and the school year was not interrupted.
Parents demanded fines and sanctions to be imposed on the leaders of the unions who organised the strike.
The parents claim that short term demands in the strike were unrealistic and did not lead to constructive results.
Bulgarian teachers were on a five week strike, starting in late September, demanding a 100 per cent salary increase.
The strike ended in the first days of November, without an agreement having been signed.
