Around 55 per cent of teachers on strike has rejected the proposed agreement that unions and Education Ministry reached on October 26 2007, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
The announcement was made by the spokesperson of the united strike committee Nikolai Nikolov.
He said that not all statements from regional strike committees had been processed yet. According to him, from the statements that had been processed, throughout the country, around 47 per cent supported the proposal, while 53 per cent was against. In Sofia, only 25 per cent of teachers on strike were in favour of the proposal and 75 per cent voted against.
Nikolov said the strike committees would meet in order to map out renewed negotiations with Government.
The strike will continue, he added.
Teachers have been on an effective strike since September 24, demanding a 100 per cent salary increase.
