Two tax officers, who requested a 60 000 leva bribe from a businessman, are going to be released on a 1000 leva bail.
The two employees of the National Income Agency requested the money from a Pazardzhik businessman, to overlook some taxation violations of his company, Darik Radio reported.
After the regional division for fighting organised crime and the Regional Prosecution in Pazardzhik submitted a signal, the homes of the two tax officers were inspected and the two were detained for 72 hours.
Police found invoices, computer configurations and tax documents in the houses of the two officers, Darik said.
Though prosecutors requested that the two officers remain under arrest, court ruled out that they could be released on the 1000 leva bail.
The blackmailed businessman was involved in wood processing, an Interior Ministry press release said. After the two officers carried out a tax inspection, they requested the money to keep silent about violations.
