TALKS BETWEEN BULGARIA AND IMF MISSION UNDERWAY
19:25 Thu 04 Oct 2007

The head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission for Bulgaria and Romania, Albert Jaeger, arrived for regular talks with the Bulgarian Finance Ministry on the state of Bulgarian economy.

Jaeger and the team of IMF experts will be in Bulgaria until October 16, Bulgaria's Deputy Finance Minister Lyubomir Datsov told reporters on Wednesday.

Datsov added he presented the implementation of the country's macroeconomic parameters alongside the financial economic policies, carried out this year. He argued that both state and regional level budget revenue collections were on track with estimates for the year. He ascribed the fact to successful reforms and lower tax rates.

Datsov confirmed the governmental estimate for a 6.3-6.5 per cent growth of the Bulgarian economy.
He also communicated government's concern about Bulgaria's soaring current account deficit, adding though that measures aimed at the improvement of the business climate had already been taken.
