Novera, the company in charge of cleaning Sofia, has started washing some of the city's central streets this summer. In addition, the local municipality has begun repairing roads, causing temporary closure to some thoroughfares in the area.

The company requested residents and visitors not to park on those roads affected between August 4 and August 8 when the revamp takes place. Work will start at 7.30am and those streets being cleaned will be closed for about one hour, Sofia city hall spokesperson Tsvetanka Krusteva told The Sofia Echo on August 4.

Streets due to be cleaned on August 4 are all roads between Slavianska Street, Vassil Levski Boulevard, 6-ti Septemvri and Gourko streets, and Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard. On August 5, the area between Benkovski Street, Dondoukov and Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevards and Paris Street will be washed. Next to be cleaned on August 6 are the roads between Moskovska Street, Vassil Levski and Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevards, and Paris Street. The area between Moskovska Street, Vassil Levski and Dondoukov Boulevards and Paris Street will be washed on August 7. The following day, the area between Dondoukov Boulevard, Veslets, Georgi Sava Rakovski and Ekzarh Yosif streets will receive a new look.

Ongoing construction on Sofia metro means that works will take place on Maria Louisa Boulevard between Todor Alexandrov and Dondoukov Boulevards until August 31. So all vehicles are requested to use the tramline on Maria Louisa Boulevard towards Slivnitsa Boulevard to pass this section.

Repairs to Slivnitsa Boulevard that started on July 26 mean that vehicles will be banned from entering the boulevard’s northern roadway between Stochna Gara square and Opulchenska Street until August 13. Drivers should use Slivnitsa’s southern roadway and the boulevard’s transverse streets on this side.

Until August 20 entering the south roadway of Genral Danail Nikolov Boulevard is prohibited between Stochna Gara square and Cherkovna Street. Vehicles will drive in both directions on the southern roadway of the boulevard, which is under construction.

Entering the south roadway of 8-mi Dekemvri Street between Sveti Climent Ohridski Boulevard and Rosario Streets is also banned for the period August 4/17. Drivers will have to use the northern roadway of the closed street to travel in both directions. Putnostroitelna Tehnika EAD is executing the repairs of 8-mi Dekemvri Street.
