STRANDZHA REGION IN BULGARIA NO LONGER PROTECTED AREA
13:34 Fri 29 Jun 2007

Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) ruled out on June 29 that the decision of the Environment and Water Affairs Ministry according to which Stradzha mountain region is a protected area is invalid.

A three-member court panel took the decision, based on the fact that the territory of the preserve cannot be determined.

Environment and Water Affairs Ministry will appeal the decision,  Minister Djevdet Chakurov said. The appeal has to be filed in a 14-day period.

Tsarevo municipality decided to challenge the ministerial decision, since the status of the region hindered investment plans.

According to expert testimonies, exact designation of the Strandzha park borders was impossible.

Complete bollocks. A true demonstration of the worst in this country. The EU should suspend all funds to Bg. Tell the Mayor of Tsarevo to take a long walk off a short pier. Corruption is clearly alive and well!!! The Bg justice system sucks. The developers pay the amyor and clearly the judges! Stanishev - act for the good of your country. You will have no tourists in future - they will continue to disappear as they already do.
