The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) approved officially the selection of Stanimir Stoilov as national football team coach for the upcoming two Euro 2008 qualification matches against Belarus.
Former national team coach Dimitar Penev will be the new manager of the team. The changes became necessary after Hristo Stoichkov decided to quit coaching.
Krasimir Balakov featured among the potential new coaches but turned down the proposal. Balakov said that he is expecting offers from German teams.
BFU president Borislav Mihailov said that Bulgaria still had chances to qualify for Euro 2008 and it was important to find a person who can lead the team to victory.
Stoilov will coach the national team in the two matches only, after which he will return to Levski. Mihailov said that the selection process of a new national team coach is still ongoing.
Limited finances hindered the selection of a quality foreign coach, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
